Kuldip Sandhu is a Digital / IT Transformation and Change practice development adviser and consultant with 25+ years working in IT across banking and financial services, higher education, legal, police, local government, insurance, retail, professional services, telecoms and aerospace, events & hospitality, and recruitment.

He has also worked across a number of IT consultancies: PwC’s CIO Advisory practice, TCS’ Global Consultancy, developed the CIO Advisory practice at PTS Consulting, a small boutique IT consultancy, and in my most current interim roles engagements he has won and delivered IT Transformation initiatives at Durham University, British Transport Police, UIS University of Cambridge, Wakefield District Council, Hogan Lovells and ExCeL Convention Centre.

He has managed teams of 150+ cross-functional experts and budgets of £10M+, and have worked with multiple renowned clients including RBS, Citigroup, State Street, Saxo Bank, Scottish Widows, EDF Trading, Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi, First Data Corporation, Slaughter & May, Coventry City Council, University of London, UCAS and technology partners such as HPE, BMC, Samsung, Cisco, Microsoft, and IT managed service providers.

He brings about change in reluctant environments through leadership, vision and taking stakeholders on a journey and empowering staff with the tools for change and upskilling teams so they become high performing, whilst building the IT Function into a stable internal department and making it more effective and efficient whilst decreasing the dependence on 3rd party suppliers.

Key business outcomes clients have realised from his engagements include:

  1. Secured investment through the development of an IT strategy and business case for a £10M+ IT function transformation for a global bank based in Denmark – Financial Services
  2. Developed an IT strategy that secured a £13.4M capex investment to enhance the guest/staff experience for a UK leisure provider
  3. Roll out of a global CMDB improving the availability of IT services across the enterprise and incident and change resolution times - FinTech
  4. Approval for the IT Modernisation Business Case to move to Cloud Computing to realise savings of £113M of 3.5 years - Insurance
  5. End to end transformation of an IT function delivering £6M annual opex cost savings for a local UK council
  6. Developed and delivered a digital IT strategy securing board investment of £22.2M over 5 years - Higher Education
  7. Developed a service improvement programme board and the programme which would enable IT Transformation to be completed in less time (2.5 years as opposed to 3.5 years) at a reduced cost (£3.5m as opposed to £5m) – Public Sector
  8. Secured the first IT outsourcing of an IT service through Academic Council approval. This was a major cultural change for the University. – Higher Education
  9. Identifying IT efficiencies across niche, commodity, low value and strategic services making over 250+ recommendations for change, cost savings and potential efficiencies totalling 25-40% of the IT budget – Higher Education
  10. Developed business and IT strategies for a University which increased revenues by £5M, student numbers by 1,000 and increased student satisfaction by 5% over 2 years – Higher Education
  11. Won an IT outsourcing deal of value £14.3M for global insurance company
