About this Speaker

Starting out as a junior electronics and telecommunications engineer working for the MOD, Karen quickly realised that she had an interest in the computing side of the work. Starting on a very old Sigma Six Xerox mainframe she learned the basics of Cobol and Fortran programming along with assembly language. Moving on from there Karen worked in the partnership administration area of a large accountancy company, with responsibilities for making payments to the partners and training the staff in all things P.C. Karen quickly learned that she had a passion for passing knowledge on to others and decided to run her own consultancy. During this time, she worked as a BA, helping to solve and overcome business problems, a database designer and trainer, amongst other things. During the past few years, Karen has worked as a training manager in various guises, building training programmes from scratch as well as running skills gap analysis and sourcing training to overcome those challenges.
